Significantly improved stability

The Ultrastable™ bFGF

The most stable growth factor for regenerative medicine, cell culture and beyond.

Phycin is advancing next-generation growth factors engineered for greater stability, performance, and reliability across regenerative medicine, cell culture, and related life science applications.

The Problem with Wild-Type bFGF
Wild-type bFGF lasts only ~9 hours at 37°C, driving daily supplementation, cold-chain burden, higher dosing, shorter useful life, and higher media costs for researchers and clinicians alike.
Our Solutions
Phycin solves the cost, consistency, and quality issues caused by unstable growth factors.

Stability Proven by Performance

Phycin’s Ultrastable bFGF Demonstrates Both Superior Stability and Potency

21-Day Activity Retention
Much stronger retention of functional activity after 21 days incubation at 37˚C, than WT and nearest competitor.
Higher Thermal Resilience
Substantial increase in melting temperature with respect to WT bFGF and nearest market competitor.
Freeze-Thaw Stability
Safe through 11+ freeze-thaw cycles, retaining functional activity and reducing variability during storage and use.

Frequently Asked Questions

01
What makes Phycin’s bFGF different?

Basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) is widely used in regenerative medicine and advanced cell culture, yet current solutions lack the stability, scalability, and affordability required for demanding applications. These limitations are especially critical in stem cell maintenance, organoid culture, and tissue engineering, where consistent, long-lasting bioactivity is essential.Ultrastable bFGF™ from Phycin addresses these gaps by delivering sustained, reliable performance under demanding culture conditions, enabling more efficient and reproducible workflows. Its superior thermostability and protease resistance offer:

• Extended stability, reducing media replacement frequency and lowering costs.
• Increased protease resistance, ensuring sustained bioactivity in culture environments.
• Improved reproducibility, critical for complex applications such as stem-cell and organoid-based research.

02
How does Phycin use AI technology?

Phycin uses iterative protein engineering workflow that integrates structural modeling, residue-level flexibility analysis (RMSF), and dynamic interaction mapping to identify regions for optimization. Insights from these computational analyses are used to guide the rational design and selection of protein variants with improved properties such as stability, activity, or manufacturability. The optimized candidates are then advanced through a sequential development pipeline for experimental validation and product development.

03
Why does growth factor stability matter?

That stability advantage of Phycin’s Ultrastable bFGF changes the product profile in ways users can see in their day-to-day use. It supports lighter cold-chain requirements, longer usable life, and more forgiving handling conditions. It is safe for >10 rounds of freeze–thaw cycling, and hence can support both premixed media and automated workflows, where warm hold time becomes important. So thermal stability is not just a formulation benefit—it can improve workflow robustness, economics, and biological output.

04
What applications can Phycin’s growth factors support?

Phycin’s Ultrastable bFGF and other growth factors in the pipeline can support applications ranging from regenerative medicine, cell culture, cosmetics to cultivated meat.
